Anyone live near Battle Creek/Kalamazoo and willing to help a newbie out with repairing his 240SX ? I paid $400 for the car and it has 122k miles on it.

This car has got problems that need to be fixed before I can do any kinds of real mods to the car. I'm going to list what is all wrong with the car here and then my plans for mods after.

Problems with the car

01.) Transmission only has 5th gear and reverse.
(This has been fixed with a transmission swap from a 1991 Nissan 240SX Hatchback that I had laying around in the garage.) The idiot put automatic transmission fluid into the manual transmission. which blewout the 2nd gear snychro and when he did it the parts got wedged in and locked 1st-4th gears only thing it had was 5th and reverse. this has been replaced with another transmission

holy shit!

02.) Knock Sensor:
Already bought this and just needs to be installed. I just never have done this before so I would like to do this with someone that knows what they are doing. I'm getting Error Code 34 on Using Nissan Consult.

these are simple to install, just try not to knock 'em around. i've had my fair share of issues w/ knock sensor related problems ... one thing is that it will kind of hinder the performance of the vehicle.

03.) Brakes Replaced:
I already have the brand new rotors and pads. I just need help with putting them on. I let my stepfather help me and he broke a bolt so we stopped. We will need to drill (easy out) the broken bolt out first. I also need to find replacement set of bolts for the driver caliper basically all are missing now.

man just get out there and get it done. i'm sure alot of these guys would help but ... start, and post here if u want help ... sounds like you're on to a great start.

04.) Front bumper & Fenders fixed.
The front bumper sags and the drivers fender keeps getting crunched in the door. So I removed the Fender to stop more damage. When I started to remove the bumper I noticed that the bumper support wasn't connected to anything. the bumper support is bent and one bolt is snapped and the other it twisted. so I stopped.

pictures dude ... says a thousand words.

05.) Underbody Neons Removed:
I have clipped the wires to the neons and have most of them already removed but I want to make sure I have it completely removed them. There is some wires left hanging.

who put them on in the first place?

the past retarded owner along with a long list of problems

06.) Stereo:
when I bought the car it just had a empty hole for the radio. I have a installed a new kenwood radio and it finally works perfectly.

noice lets see the install (pictures)

07.) Speakers:
when I bought the car he had 6 speakers wired into the car wiring, 2 in the doors, 2 in the rear seats, and 2 in the rear hatch/trunk. i have remove the speakers in the rear seats but i have a hole where he cut them to fit speakers where no speakers was designed to fit.

pictures.

08.) Muffler: I need to buy a new muffler was thinking just buying one of the $30 generics from autozone/advance auto for the time being to get rid of the muscle car sound. reminds me of like a camaro/mustang sound.

i would spend a few bucks on something that is proven to fit your personal preference... i would say that any of the autozone ones would work fine just make sure that you let the "local pro" do it ...

here is my exhaust video on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/v/o-PilKVtpRg

09.) Missing Bolts:
Interior Trim, Center Console, bottom of Hatch (where wing bolts are), interior of hatch (where taillight screws are). fender bolts, bumper bolts,

hit up local bolt stores w/ the existing bolts that you do have

thats the issue i have nothing to match up with

10.) Automatic Seatbelt:
the auto seatbelt doesn't work it just stays put in the door closed position.

relay or motor

11.) Door Panels:
The tweed trim fabric has got to go, I need to replace some of the panel clips,

no idea

this I found a guide on another forum for doing.

12.) Rear Seat Trim Panels:
I need to replace the rear seat trim panels with new ones so I don't have holes that was cut to fit speakers.

why did you take the speakers out? you could have probably just as easily created cool looking covers for where the speakers where/are

no he did a horrile job at it, and the speakers was sitting on the metal of the car. I'm just going to put some electrical tape over the holes and then when i replace the tweed on the doors i'll use some more and cover that section also

13.) Power Doors:
The car had power windows, and power locks, but for some reason the idiot past owner decided to cut the wires and install manual doors.

and ...

would like to have the power stuff back on the car if possible

14.) AutoLoc:
Don't know what this is but I know I want it gone since it doesn't seem to serve a purpose in my car.

woha ...

don't have a clue on this thing

If someone wants to help me with this I could buy you some beers or something for your time. I have a set of Stanley tools, torque wrench, floor jack, two jack stands, one man brake bleeder tool, disc brake tool set, 1/2" breaker bar, and a few other things but thats about it really.

Upgrades and Mods
5-Lug Swap (Front and Rear)
standless steel braided brake lines
1" Master Cylinder (300ZX)
Silvia 180SX Front Body Kit
Silvia Bricks style headlights
cold air intake
staggard 5 spoke rims

i would strongly encourage the use of this car as a parts car sadly ... find another car w/ a good body and have someone assist moving the drivetrain over. sounds like you're wanting something more ... and starting w/ a good and non bastardized car might work for you alittle better Razz

pictures say a million words.

wow what a unique answer. now lets think about this if we keep parting out these cars and selling the parts then selling the chassis or crushing them it will just get that much harder to find them at all. These types of answers allways piss me off. would you also part out a 69 charger just because of some small problems? i could see if the frame and body was all rusted out but come on.

YES I have the fenders I removed the drivers fender and the bumper because the door keeps pinching the fender.

Interior Pictures

Yes the picture have water in the spare tire area, becuase my hatch has the original holes for the nerf style factory wing that I have not covered before taking the pictures. I just placed tape over the holes for the time being.

More Exterior Pictures

This is why the front bumper sags on the driver side, and most likely why my fender gets pinched when you shut the door

These are the windshiled washer fluid lines.

yeah, i really think that you could get that car to something ... doesn't look too terribly bad... although your front issue w/ the quarter panel hitting your door worries me... has that thing been in an accident?
